Welcome to the oldest diffraction related conference in North America
The Pittsburgh Diffraction Conference
October 30th - November 1st, 2008
Holiday Inn University Center
Pittsburgh, PA

The 66th Annual Pittsburgh Diffraction Conference is a three day event featuring lecture and poster presentations covering a wide range of subject matter of interest to researchers in chemistry, physics and structural biology.  Session topics will include diffraction phasing, structure refinement and validation, synchrotron data collection, environmental science, materials science, and combined methods for structural biology research including NMR, Cryo-EM, EXAFS, SAXS, and computational biology.  The conference will be preceded by a workshop ‘Crystallography Made Easy through Automation’ on October 29th.  Conference social events include a reception on October 30th and a banquet on October 31st.

Student poster abstracts may be considered for an oral presentation and are eligible for the Chung Soo Yoo Award.

A highlight of the conference will be the Sidhu Award presentation. The Sidhu Award, in memory of Professor Surhain Sidhu, honors significant contributions to the science of crystallography and/or diffraction by an outstanding scientist who is within six (6) years of having earned the Ph.D. or its equivalent. The award carries a cash prize of $2000. The successful candidate will present the Sidhu Award Lecture and receive the prize during the conference.  The PDS is now accepting nominations for the 2008 Sidhu Award.
